Nedbank Cup: Kaizer Chiefs Beaten By Milford FC
Once the biggest fish in the pond, Kaizer Chiefs were left floating belly-up after minnows Milford FC eliminated them from the Nedbank Cup.
Taking on the National First Division Side at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, Gauteng on Sunday, 25 February, it was expected that Chiefs would emerge as the winners of this round of 32 clash.
Alas, Amakhosi were held to a 0-0 deadlock by Milford, whose growing confidence throughout the match enabled them to keep their opponents at bay.
Not even a red card given to defender Vusumuzi Mthabela for a studs-up challenge on Pule Mmodi broke the KwaZulu-Natal team’s stride.
With the score still at 0-0 after two hours of play, the teams headed into a penalty shootout: miraculously, Milford managed to beat the Gauteng Glamour Boys 5-4 after Edson Castillo missed a crucial spot kick.
As a result, Kaizer Chiefs are out of the tournament, while Milford FC have advanced to the last 16 (for which the draw will take place tonight, Monday 26 February).
